Do you work in an international company or team? Are you able to identify the non verbal components of international communication, the unspoken signals and assumptions of your international business partners? Are you savvy with their communication styles?
How, for example, does a good German manager or a good American manager offer constructive criticism of poor performance? Will a German employee understand the American managers sandwich technique or the American employee, the directness of the German manager? And do all speakers of English understand that when an English boss says "I was a bit disappointed that..." he really means "I am very upset and angry that...?"
In our globalised and virtual world today, just having good English is not a guarantee for business success. Specials skills are required to decode cultures which are foreign to your own and to navigate the complexities of cultural differences. Without knowing how to decode cultural differences, one could easily fall into cultural traps which create unhealthy working relationships or even cause a deal to fail.
This course is spread over two weekends with an assignment in between.
Participants should come prepared to put on some new cultural glasses and look at things from a different angle.
